Homeowner Eligibility Requirements
Although eligibility requirements can vary from city to city below are some basic eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must have a gross annual household income based on HUD guidelines.
- $12,400 to $22,733 for a family of 2
- $13,950 to $25,575 for a family of 3
- $15,500 to $28,416 for a family of 4
- $16,700 to $30,616 for a family of 5
- $19,200 to $32,908 for a family of 6
- $19,200 to $35,200 for a family of 7
- $20,450 to $37,491 for a family of 8
- Applicants must have rented for the past 6-12 months depending on the city where Habitat houses are available.
- At least one adult applicant in your family must have legal permanent residency or citizenship in the United States at the time of the application.
- Applicants must have steady income, fair credit and a minimal level of debt.
- Applicants and their family must be willing and able to perform "sweat equity" (amount of hours depends on the family size and could be as high as 500 hours.)
- Applicants must have not owned or co-owned a home in the last 3 years.
